Message about the Web Site

Thanks for visiting the Temple Beth Shira website. I'd like to take a moment to outline the goals of this site and explain how you can help contribute to the sites improvement and the growth of our congregation.

This website has been built on a powerful content-management platform called Joomla. It's the product of hundreds of programmers and thousands of testers from all over the planet. Thanks to their efforts and the community that has been formed around this software project, a wonderful opportunity has been given to OUR community to share knowledge, interests, events, history and culture.

The intent of this website is to allow you as a member of our congregation to contribute content that YOU feel is important and appropriate to the Temple Beth Shira community. The only way that this website will grow and serve our congregation is if you participate by adding content to the site, and by suggesting ways that we can improve and extend the small start that we've made now. This website is a work in process, and is one that is never really finished.

It's easy to contribute to this site. The first step is to REGISTER:

You can do this by going back to the home page after reading this article

It only takes a few moments and does a couple things:

1. It gives others in the congregation some information about yourself (you chose what to reveal).

2. It gives you access to areas of the site that are hidden from the public.

3. Once you've registered, you can request to add content of your own. Just drop me an email after you've logged in, and I'll give you the required permissions to submit an article or link.  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

4. Log in as a registered member, and you will see a new menu on the right, with some options only members can access.

You can:

  1. Create a Blog
  2. Submit an article
  3. Submit a web link
  4. View a list of Registered users
  5. Modify your profile
  6. Visit the Social site, where you can upload photos, see other photos, communicate with other members, form discussion groups, and modify your social site profile.

Help Wanted!

You've probably been called several times by a member asking for you to volunteer some time to help out at TBS functions. The dues charged for membership don't cover all expenses, and a lot of our viability relies on the fund raising activities of the Synagogue and the Sisterhood and Brotherhood.

The board is trying hard to improve the programs of the synagogue in many areas. We have many committees that need your help. Please, go to the committee section of the website, and choose a committee to join up with.

I personally would like anyone interested in writing articles, posting photos, or helping with managing the website to contact me.( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You don't need to be a web guru, just some very basic writing skills will be enough to start. I look forward to my email box being full of volunteers!

If you'd like a copy of a photo from our gallery to print or keep on your computer, it's easy to do.

Please make sure you disable popup blockers for this to work.

Go to the gallery that has the image you want. Click once on the image.

Now double-click. That image will open up large in a new window.

You can now right click on the image, and save the image to your own computer. It`s suitable for making a print or emailing to a friend.

(if you are on a Mac, control-click to save the image)
