THE TEMPLE BETH SHIRA SISTERHOOD of BOCA RATON, FLORIDA
MISSION STATEMENT
Since 1916, the mission of Sisterhood has been to bring Jewish women together to support and benefit the congregation and community by providing opportunities for friendship, service, spiritual growth and learning. The ongoing goal is to promote the highest ideals of women in Judaism through a program of religious commitment, education, social action and service to humanitarian causes.
What TBS Sisterhood does.
Sisterhood is an integral and necessary part of a congregation's life. Members assume the responsibility for a wide variety of fundraising events and special programs. For this organization to be most effective, it needs member interest, input and involvement. As of July 1, 2008, TBS Sisterhood will officially be members of a group of over 75,000 women belonging to over 500 congregations by affiliating with Women of Reform Judaism (WRJ), which is the women's agency of the Union For Reform Judaism (URJ).
Membership
Any woman at least 18 years of age and a congregation member can join TBS Sisterhood, WRJ dues are automatically included in the annual dues. Dues are $36.00 for the fiscal year July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009.
The By Laws
Upon approval of the 'By Laws by the Temple Beth Shira Board of Directors, on June 2, 2008, the newly minted By Laws of the organization will be made available. The first presentation will be at the General Membership Meeting, June 9, 2008 7:30pm at the home of Robin Oberman. To make this occasion even more momentous, Barbara Shub, Past WRJ Regional President will be the guest speaker.
